How to include Sitemap XML file on your blogger blog

Sitemap XML Right on your Blogger

Once we created a blog or a website, the next immediate thing a site owner thinks about is making the search engine to read it. A Sitemap file can be a great help on this. It is simply an XML file that contains your blog or site URLs complete or customized index.

The Sitemap XML file helps the search engines to crawl your website’s or blog’s web pages without missing any one of them. Sitemaps can be generated in XML, HTML, RSS, or Atom formats. But the giant search engines like Google recommends using both XML Sitemaps and RSS / Atom feeds for better crawling.

The benefits of having a Sitemap file

Understanding the structure. Having a Sitemap for your blogger helps the Search Engines to easily understand your blog in the way it structured while crawling it.

Indexing & Crawling. The most common benefit known by everyone is Sitemap XML helps in crawling and indexing our web pages. And it is important for us to remember that only those pages that have been crawled by bots can be included in their index, consequently it is the initiation point to show up those in the SERPs.

Priority. It helps you to specify search engines the crawl priority of each page in your blog, i.e., letting them know the most important pages of your blog or website.

Time-based information. We can inform search bots the time-based information by providing optional tags like "lastmod" to specify when a page last changed and, "changefreq" tag to state them how often the web page change is happening.
